• The waking world refers to present day earth. Magical creatures exist there, but they hide themselves.
  • The Cat’s Way refers to the spirit world of domestic cats (afterlife). It is a place that can be visited if you know how to get there, and the predominant setting of this story. It shares borders with Faerie.
  • The cat spirits can change their shape with something called a spark, but most cats don’t have one.

This site is a mess. Sorry if you find something that’s tough to read. I edit it when time and energy permits.

Jacky

Age: 21 / Height: 4’11”

Species: Half-fae

Jacky is equal parts shy, spunky and belligerent. She identifies herself as human, but is actually half-fae.
It takes a while to stir any personality out of her. She tends to come off as quiet and watchful to new people, or annoyed to be perceived. That’s how it is when you’re a small thing surrounded by big things.
She’s a survivalist. The most memorable thing about her is that she’s hard to catch and easy to lose.

She came to the Cat’s Way from the waking world and hasn’t shown much interest in going back.

Herman

Age: 24 / Height: 6’6″

Species: ‘Human’, with a secret.

Playful is probably Herman’s most defining trait. Sometimes he smiles like he has bad intentions and his thinking face can look like a sneer, but it’s superficial. He’s a sweetheart if you’re not a jerk. He’s also a well rounded extrovert and a flirty guy who would probably just like to be buds.
He’s from Maine, where he has a gigantic family. They’re all women and all witches. It’s because of them that he still has access to cell phone and internet service, even in a place like the Cat’s Way.

Beel and Ginch

Age: ? / Height: 4’7″

Species: Cat and Faerie

Beel is an unremarkable village cat who has spent his afterlife seeing after his farm. He took in Jacky like he would take in any stray.
Ginch is a shoe cobbler who lives outside of town. He runs a small business and enjoys his space.
He can come off as salty but people who treat him kindly will be treated likewise.
