I’m experimenting with written blurbs for every page, but it’s a slow process. I’m probably not done editing this WIP. I can’t be bothered to store it anywhere else.

Jacky sat with her hands between her knees. If the cats across from her and beside her had stood up, she probably would have been the tallest by a hair, but she felt small. A sensation of shrinking had been with her ever since coming to this world.

“You’re human?” The two on the other side of the table- gybs as they were called here -looked at her over their noses with expressions that hadn’t changed since the word human got dropped. They looked startled. It had been hard for her to figure out some expressions in the early days, but she knew she wouldn’t have had trouble picking apart that one. The alarm was relatable. So was the slight nuance of intrigue.

“Yes.” She answered. It was a little more complicated than that, but yes, in all the ways that mattered she was human.

“Here. In the Cat’s Way. Human. Not a cat?” One cat pressed, probably without realizing it. Her friend Beel replied on her behalf. He had a bright, sweet voice but his tone was definitive.

“Yup. She’s human.”

Jacky began to lower her head and uttered one more yes that she wasn’t sure she wanted anyone to hear.
